Auto Insurance Premiums Lowered in Georgia

ROSWELL, GA (November 15, 2004) State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, the largest insurer of autos in Georgia and the nation, recently announced that it lowered its “overall rate level in Georgia an average of 1.4 percent effective October 1.” Agent Trummie Patrick of Roswell advises, “This annual savings for Georgia customers will amount to $16.5 million.” State Farm reports that savings for many customers will be seen as a result of increasing accident-free and new business discounts in addition to the decrease in premium for liability, medical payments and collision coverage.

There are several other ways Georgia consumers can cut costs further on their auto insurance. Consider higher deductibles as well as selecting only the coverages you need. Additionally, many insurance companies offer different discounts.

• New business discount: Often offered to new policyholders if they have been accident free for a specific period of time.
• Accident-free: Rewards policyholders who have been accident-free while being insured with the same insurance company for several years.
• Discounts for other insurance lines: Premiums may be reduced if the policyholder has both auto and home insurance with the same company.
• Multiple car: Reduction of premium if there are two or more passenger cars in the household insured by the same company.
• Defensive driving course: Discounts are sometimes offered for the voluntary completion of specified driver improvement courses.
• Good student: Full time students (high school or higher level) maintaining a “B” average may qualify for reduced premiums.
