Cobb Senior Services will host two programs celebrating historical times as the county celebrates its 175th Anniversary. Learn the about the historic importance of the Glover Machine Works in Cobb Thursday, October 18, starting at noon. The program will be held at C. Freeman Poole Senior Center and the presenter will be Dick Hillman from the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. The cost is $5 and includes lunch. Reservations are required. "The Fascinating History of the Roswell Millworkers" lecture will be held Friday, October 19, at the Windy Hill Senior Center, beginning at noon. The lecture will examine the role of the once thriving industrial center of Roswell, which was part of Cobb County until 1932, and tell the story of 400 women who were sent north during the Civil War while the Union Army occupied Roswell, their fates remaining a mystery.
