When the trees in the hills and valleys of the North Georgia Mountains begin to transform their summer greenery into palettes of dazzling gemstone-hued leaves, and the wind starts to turn colder; then it’s time to harvest the plump, ripe grapes of Wolf Mountain Vineyard and Winery that will begin their long journey from the vineyard to the bottle. Autumn is a very special time at Wolf Mountain: a time of festivals, special occasions, and holiday events galore.
Topping the list is Wolf Mountain’s incredibly popular Sunday Brunch, which is available each Sunday from now through mid-December. The bountiful brunch, for which reservations are required, is $30 per person ($20 per person in December), with seatings at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wine is not included in the brunch price, but may be purchased by the glass or by the bottle. We offer our Café Lunch with food and wine pairings Thursday – Saturday 12-3pm. For reservations and information call Wolf Mountain Vineyards at 1.706.867.9862 or e-mail info@wolfmountainvineyards.com.
Brunch, Lunch and Seasonal Events
The menus and activities of the Sunday Brunch – now in its fifth season – vary monthly to blend with the change of seasons. September’s “Jazz in the Vineyard” brunch (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th) will feature Country French cuisine and afternoons filled with the soft sounds of jazz, while October’s “End of the Harvest Celebration and Bluegrass Brunch” (7th, 14th, 21, 28th) is complete with lively bluegrass music and a harvest-centered Gourmet Southern Cuisine buffet. Along with cooler temperatures, November will bring the “Wild Game, Mushroom & Red Wine Festival,” featuring such delicacies on the buffet table including grilled quail, venison sausage, and exotic mushroom strudel, all which pair perfectly with Wolf Mountain’s robust red wines.
December is special at Wolf Mountain, with the Holiday Open House (2nd, 9th, 16th) in full holiday mode. With the gentle sounds of crackling fireplaces and soothing holiday music in the background, guests can enjoy deliciously hot and comforting homemade soups and melt-in-your-mouth hors d’oeuvres, all the while marveling at the delightfully decorated Christmas tree complete with all the trimmings. The buffet is only $20 per person, with a glass of Wolf Vineyard’s award-winning wines included in the price. For wine connoisseurs and gift-givers alike, holiday gifts and goody-filled baskets are also available.
2007 Award-Winning Wines
Wolf Mountain Vineyards and Winery has just won a host of prestigious 2007 awards for their wines, competing against California and international wines, and all of which are available for purchase. Their recent awards include silver medals for their crisp stainless steel aged chardonnay and Viognier blend “Plentitude” with the American Wine Society, Vineyard & Winery's International Eastern Wine Competition (the leading trade publication of the industry), and the Tasters Guild. Their full-bodied Rhone style red “Instinct” won a bronze medal with the American Wine Society, as well as a silver medal with the Tasters Guild. Wolf Mountain’s Claret, their reserve red Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvedre blend, won a bronze medal with both the Los Angeles International Wine Competition and the Tasters Guild International Wine Competition.
With a philosophy of winemaking that is more deeply rooted in the European traditions than any other wine making region in the world, the Boegner family incorporates hand processing and French oak aging with an emphasis on blending grape varieties to achieve more complexity and unique wine styles. Wolf Mountain’s vineyard estate is tucked away at the 1800’ elevation of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Wolf Mountain’s location is perfect for growing grapes that produce not only Instinct, Claret, and Plenitude but also other fine, exotically complex award-winning wines including Chanteloup, a reserve blend of French oak-aged Chardonnay and Viognier; Sunset Rosé, a dry Rhone-style rosé; Coupage, a lighter-styled Bordeaux blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon; and Demi-Sec, a semi-sweet German-style white wine
