Theatre On Main Offers An Adult Acting Class
Led by Acclaimed Actor and Director Dave Lauby

Theatre is the telling of stories; good storytelling, in its essence, is based on the ability to tell a good lie - and the actor, as storyteller, must become the ultimate liar in order to effectively create a character and convince an audience of the truth of his or her performance. This six-session course is an introduction to the principles of basic acting technique. This is a great workshop for seasoned actors to brush up on their skills as well. In this class the actor works to learn and apply fundamental acting principles through a progression of exercises that develop his/her ability to work organically, and to create truthful and expressive behavior in acting. The Principles of Acting course covers such basics as physical and vocal awareness, improvisation, non-verbal expression, the thought life of the actor, sensory awareness, and the language / vocabulary of the theatre. To become a better actor you must become a better liar - and that's the truth!
