The City of Kennesaw will host live entertainment; and showcase plenty of barbequed meat and delicious treats during its annual Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival on Friday & Saturday, August 8-9.
The event features a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned BBQ competition. Judging begins on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., and 42 teams will be competing for cash prizes offered in four categories: chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket.
A backyard BBQ & peach dessert contest will also take place on Saturday with judging in four categories: chicken, pork ribs, pork and peach desserts.
Select competitors will be selling their smoke-cooked delicacies, so come hungry!
Besides food, there will also be a wide variety of other activities for guests to enjoy. Live entertainment from a number of well-known local and regional musicians will be provided for festival-goers each day. In addition to scheduled entertainment, a number of vendors, sponsor exhibits and a large Kids Zone featuring inflatables and attractions from the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Thrashers, Atlanta Hawks and Brunswick U.S. Play will be set up for the amusement of festival visitors.

* The Roger “Hurricane” Wilson concert is the fourth of five performances in the City of Kennesaw's 2008 Summer Concert Series. The festival, including all performances, will be held at a new location in 2008 -- Adams Park and the Ben Robertson Community Center, which is located at 2753 Watts Drive (near the entrance to Adams Park).
The City of Kennesaw's Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival is presented by the City of Kennesaw Parks & Recreation Department. The BBQ competition is a Georgia State Championship Barbeque Cookoff.
