Cherokee Highschool Class of 1958 Prepares for 50th Reunion

There's nothing like getting ready for a Class Reunion. There's nothing better than attending one, whether it's the first, tenth, twenty-fifth. But getting ready for the 50th High School Reunion is a "high" that keeps on flying! Members of the Cherokee High School Class of 1958 are literally "flying high" as they prepare for their big event on JULY 12, 2008, at the Rock Barn, in Canton. The word is out; the talk is going on almost daily, as final preparations are being made.

Class members from all over the county merged into Canton High School and became the graduating Class of 1958. At that time, Cherokee High School was being built and the old Canton High School was being closed. Many of the members have kept in touch with each other closely through these passing 50 years, over and above the class reunions which were held every five years.

There's nothing like friends - old or new.  Some are silver and some are gold. Eight members of the Class of 1958 met in April, at the Isle of Pams, SC, for a week-end of "re-connecting". Needless to say, the upcoming 50th Reunion was a hot topic of conversation. Friends gathering to catch up on each other's lives, families, careers, successes, and triumps is what a REUNION is all about.  Sharing funny stories of those days when we were "young and foolish" as some would say, is the best therapy for anyone over 50!  Sharing soul-journeys (the wins, the losses, the ups the downs) with each other cannot be replaced by the "best sellers" at any book store!

It is amazing how many things we remember, or just "don't reacall" until someone jogs our memory. But keeping the "brain alive over 55" is a priority, so we just keep on jogging, waiting for the next 50 to roll around.  ( I didn't say we'd  still be rolling around - but who knows?)  All of this togetherness, laughter, with letters, e-mails, and prayers, has bound us together for over 50 years. The bond is strong - as a rope with three cords! When cords are pulled apart the rope weakens - it just doesn't "hold" the anchor. One of our children has named us the "golden girls!" We're not offended. We're just thrilled we can still "find the blonde" on the shelf - and that we remember how to use it!

We encourage you to ATTEND YOUR CLASS REUNION.  It will be better than any medicine Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, CVS, or Walgreen's Pharmacist call fill for you. Doctors often agree - Laughter is the best medicine, so these girls should be WELL for eterenity!  Take our advice!  PLAN to be in CANTON on JULY 12, 2008.  You'll never regret it and the MEMORIES will last forever! Just be sure to scrapbook them, so generations after us will see what a great life we had! It is a testimony to what FRIENDSHIP is all about.
