The Cobb County Public Libraries’ ‘Big Bug Bash’ will be held Aug. 9, 10 a.m.–noon at the Central CCPL for children ages 11 and younger. The event is free and open to the public.
The children’s Big Bug Bash social is the culmination of the summer-long reading program, ‘Catch the Reading Bug.’
CCPL Program Coordinator Patty Latch said that the all-volunteer support club, Friends of the Library, sponsor this celebration, and that throwing the bash is a way of congratulating children and parents for participating in summer reading.
Events at the bash include a demonstration by the Jazz Baptiste Productions dance team; Puppeteer Norma Hornack, along with her puppet troupe ‘Norma’s Neighbors,’ will present children’s folktales; Additionally, a firetruck from the city of Marietta will be on display. Other activities such as face painting, water balloon games and crafts will be available.
“Early interest in the [reading] program has been high,” Latch said, “so we anticipate a crowd.”
Big Bug Bash events will take place both inside of the library and outside of the library near Roswell Street.
Children attending the bash must be accompanied by an adult. For information call (770) 528-2342.
