Free Parking, Visitor Pass Offered to ‘Check Out’

Published Jul 3, 2008

The Cobb County Public Library (CCPL) system is participating in a statewide, ‘Get Outdoors Georgia’ campaign. As part of the campaign, library card holders can check out ParkPass folders for seven days, now through Dec. 31, 2008. A ParkPass folder contains a parking tag for Georgia state parks and a visitor pass for Georgia historical sites.

“What a great time to have this special offer,” CCPL Program Coordinator Patty Latch said. “There are so many fabulous places to see so close to home in Georgia.”

The free parking tag, a $30 savings, can be used at any of Georgia’s 48 state parks. The free, one-visitor pass can be used at any of the 15 historic sites in Georgia. Additionally, a ‘Guide to Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites,’ pamphlet is included in the folder.

Checking out a ParkPass folder is just as easy as checking out a book. A participant must have a valid library card to check out one of the 34 ParkPass folders that are available throughout the CCPL system. ParkPass folders can be renewed twice. Patrons with overdue packets are charged 10 cents daily until it is returned, and fined $30 to replace lost folders.

Library patrons interested in reserving ParkPass folders can go online at www.cobbcat.org or visit one of the 17 Cobb County Public Libraries for information.

The ParkPass program is a joint initiative of the Georgia Public Library Service and Parks, Recreation & Historic Sites Division (PRHSD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
