August's show at Gallery 4463 features the work of Don Maier, Sheila Giddens, and Suzie Majikol-Maier. The three artists use their unique talents in depicting exotic locales and wildlife. Malaysian-born Majikol-Maier takes her inspiration from the Arizona desert, the glaciers of Alaska, and Native American life as the subjects of her paintings and drawings. Her husband, Marietta resident Don Maier, enjoys depicting the American southwest in his watercolors, oils, and pastels. Sheila Giddens' specialty is the Japanese pottery technique called "Raku." The three artists will be featured in the main gallery, while the rest of our member artists will have work on display in the back of the gallery. The show opening is Friday, August 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Gallery 4463, which represents the works of over 30 artists from Atlanta and throughout North Georgia, opened last fall in historic Acworth. Located at 4463 Cherokee Ave, just less than a mile from I-75 in the heart of downtown Acworth, the Gallery is in a prominent brick and glass two-story building. With it's 14-foot ceilings and spacious interior, the space is uniquely suited for a full size gallery. The Gallery was launched and continues to be operated by a group of professional artists who are committed to the idea of creating a quality fine arts gallery that is unique – a resource for professional artists, a center for fine arts in our town and community and ultimately a magnet for art patrons from all over north Georgia.
The gallery hours are: Thurs 1:30 p.m.- 4 p.m., Fri 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Sundays 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or by appointment (404-808-9971). Please visit our website as well: http://www.gallery4463.com.
