Winter Properties celebrated June 19 the grand opening of Meeting Park, a new mixed-use development at 218 Roswell Street between the library and the Marietta Square. Meeting Park will extend the downtown area in a sensitive way respectful of the city's history and will offer many owner-occupied housing options, along with office and retail.

"We received input about Meeting Park from the mayor, City Council, Marietta Housing Authority, neighbors and other citizens concerned about preserving the uniqueness of Marietta," Winter Properties president Bob Silverman said. "When complete, Meeting Park will be a community of 300 homes, townhomes and condos, seven restaurants, 10,000 square feet of trendy shops and office buildings for professional firms."

Construction will begin soon on Meeting Park's private club with a swimming pool, a wellness and fitness center and a community room, which will be used for lifelong learning classes.

Winter Properties and their financial partners, GMAC and Regions Bank are confident in Meeting Park and have invested millions of dollars in the underground systems, streets sidewalks and the park, Silverman said.

Meeting Park will appeal to an inter-generational market of young professionals, urban families and empty nesters, Silverman said. "Many restaurants and retailers are anxious to come to Meeting Park."

Residents of Meeting Park will be encouraged to pursue a life of learning and wellness, Silverman said. "Meeting Park will be a true community of young and older who want to live in a traditional neighborhood where you can walk to restaurants, shops, theatres and museums. Everyone will be encouraged to walk."

"Winter Properties expects Meeting Park will be a model for redefining suburbs, especially the close-in suburbs, with a potential for community building," Silverman said.

Marietta was chosen as the ideal American city, one of the few "All-America Cities" that demonstrates what a suburban community can be, Silverman said. "Meeting Park has a 'Village Heart' and a 'Marietta Soul,' and we expect Meeting Park will enhance all that Marietta represents."
