Marietta city manager Bill Bruton announced Kristine E. Pruss is the new chair of the Franklin Road Weed and Seed program. Pruss replaces Angela Smith who served in the role for six years.

"I am grateful for having had the opportunity to serve my community," Smith said. "I've come to hold in high regard those I work most closely with."

"We appreciate Angela Smith and the work she did to help initiate the positive changes we see on Franklin Road today," Bruton said.

"I'll be following in the footsteps of an indisputably great leader," Pruss said. "I look forward to taking a larger part in the continued growth and success of the Weed & Seed initiative."

Pruss worked as a Grant Specialist for the GEAR UP South Dade Empowerment Zone and a summer program teacher and tutor for grades 2-8 at Florida International University from 2003-2005. Pruss has been the Executive Director and Site Coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta since 2006.

"Kristine has been active in community building as a member of our Weed and Seed Committee," Bruton said. "She has had a positive influence on Franklin Road in her role as head of the Boys and Girls Club."
