Its Time for Some of our Elected Officials to "Grow Up"

It is time some of our elected officials start acting like Adults and quit being so petty because of differences of opinions that others may express. I would hope that freedom of speech, and that right given to us by the constitution would be alive and well in Forsyth County. We are a fast growing County but hopefully are not being overtaken by Dictatorship government.

I am referring to the Town Hall Meeting held at Windermere Lodge that was held on Sept. 12th

When all elected officials were invited including the School Board Members, none of the School Board Members attended nor did County Commissioners, Conway, Tam or Ledbetter. Board of Education newly Elected member as of Jan. lst Mike Dudgeon did attend.

The SPLOST Tax is coming up for renewal by the Board of Education on the Nov. Ballot. They choose not to attend to answer any questions from residents. In the Thursday edition of the AJC Northside Section, a whole page was given with regard to Forsyth County Schools, giving information as to what the SPLOST would buy, a major item was the new Lambert High School at a cost of $63.6 million dollars. The Sunday morning TV program of Sept. 10th seemed surprised that a new Forsyth County High School would be costing $63.6 million dollars. Does the Board of Education think that no one reads the AJC or that they did not have to attend a meeting to answer questions regarding the expenditures? After the AJC article, the Sept. 17th Forsyth County News tells how the Board of Education is going to educate the public regarding the need for the SPLOST Tax. If you were elected to represent the people, as a Democrat or Republican you should care about attending a Town Hall meeting to answer questions to those that have elected you..

I understand that those elected officials that did not attend, are very upset with Forsyth County Republican Party Chairman Gray Smith for standing up for his principles and the party Platform for which he was elected to uphold, and using his freedom of speech to uphold those principles. If you agree or not, you should be thankful that we have someone in public office that is not afraid to stand up for the principles of the party and what he believes. It seems that the Republican Party in now being under attack for speaking the truth and standing up for those principles. I understand that the City of Cumming will not allow the GOP to have a booth at the Fairground this year, why is that? Is it because those that the City supported lost in the last election, now it is time to get back at the GOP? I wish that they would all grow up and do what is just and fair to all considered.
