Dear Editor:
Quality of life is important to us all. One of the reasons people live in this wonderful county is the quality of life it affords to us. It is important to preserve this quality of life that we are fortunate enough to have here in Forsyth County.
My Dad always told me that local politics is the most important because that affects you and your families lives the most. This is true- we are in our local communities more than anywhere else and our children go to the local schools. I encourage all residents to take advantage of the “Meet the Candidates” and debate events that are scheduled in the county. Find out all that you can so that you can make a knowledgeable vote when the election comes.
Here in Forsyth County we have three County Commissioners who made the decision not to run for re election. I may not have always agreed with every stance any of these three officials took on issues but I want to thank them all for their selfless public service. As elected officials one will never be able to make everyone happy with decisions that are made. We, the public, must remember always that we do not have all of the facts on which the decisions are based. A lot of time and work goes into looking at all of the facts presented to make all of these decisions. Public Service is a “thankless job”. It takes courage to accept the challenge to become an intimate part of this system. Your entire life and that of your family is open for public scrutiny.
Folks, when you see David “A.J.” Pritchett, Eddie Taylor, and Marcie Kreager anywhere thank them for all of their time and hard work they have given to Forsyth County. These three and all of the others who have been, and are now, public servants gave up their own lives for awhile to help preserve ours here in Forsyth County. They all deserve our gratitude as do their families.
It is important to be an informed voter and it is important to vote. I look at it this way—if you don’t vote ---you can’t complain about what is happening in your community! Care enough about your community to be an informed voter and please vote in all of the upcoming elections.
