Anglers load up your fishing gear and folding chairs and head to Laurel Park, 151 Manning Road, for the annual Take a Kid Fishing Day July 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Everybody needs to get away from the stresses of everyday life, so slow down the pace and enjoy some old-fashioned fun.
Catfish are the primary population of the lake, but there are also bream and bass. Prizes will be awarded at 11:15 a.m. for the Big Fish, as well as some surprise categories. A casting contest will also take place. This is a free event, and a hotdog lunch will be served.
For more information or to pre-register, call Marietta Parks and Recreation at 770-794-5601.
